Which money belt?

Hello -
I purchased 2 money belts from LLBean and the material on the inside is just kind of itchy around the seems (not something I want to feel for 2 weeks). We have tried them out and can't get used to them.

I see there are several brands out there, including Rick Steves. Can anyone tell me if the Rick Steves are comfortable or recommend another brand (in that beige color)? Thanks!

Before you buy another belt, toss the ones you have now into the washing machine. Even better (and you're going to really shake your head at this one) when you toss them into the machine, also put 3 NEW tennis balls in with them. Trust me - this is a trick used by seamstresses to soften fabrics up. I learned about this from a lady who designs gorgeous clothing patterns and sells equally stunning fabrics to make the garments with. She's been using tennis balls for pretreating fabrics so they won't wrinkle as well.

I don't wear a "money belt" but found this Eagle Creek item that is fantastic! It has loops that fit over your belt, then you simply tuck the bag inside your pants. Lots easier to access than pulling a money belt up out of your pants, then trying to tuck the entire belt and bag back inside.

It has 2 different color loops to work with black/brown, or khaki colored belts.

It is very comfortable to wear, the fabric is soft.

Eagle Creek knows how to produce product for travelers!
Here is the link to their site...you can shop online to find this item...or go to your local luggage store or REI.

I bought the tan colored one, not the black! Note the color change button.

First off, good for you for testing them out before you go! You'll be glad you did. Aside from washing your current belt to see if it's fixable, there are many others out there. I have Rick's money belt - it's made of silk, no itchy seams. It also comes with a plastic insert to keep your money and passport dry (trust me, even if you're going somewhere cold, you don't want a sweaty passport). A plastic ziplock works the same if you want to adapt your current belt.

My husband and I purchased money belts from Lands End for our recent trip to France. They worked great and were not uncomfortable at all. I wore mine in back, my husband wore his in front and we were both pleased with them.
