Where to stay near the Eurostar

Hi there, my boyfriend and I are travelling to London in May and will be going to Paris too. We are actually flying into London, staying one night, and catching the Eurostar the next morning to Paris. We will be in Paris and a few other cities and then come back to actually see London and then fly out again. I am having trouble finding some low cost accomadations for that very first night before we go to Paris. We are staying in hostels most of the time, but we would like a room to ourselves that first night since we would like to cure our jetlag as much as possible. Thanks in advance!

The Premier Inn at King's Cross/St. Pancras is a nice hotel about 1/2 block from the St. Pancras Eurostar station. Stayed there last year. I highly recommend it.

The lower cost hotels are probably already booked (not to be a wet rag). Depending on what time you're leaving St. P's you can get a reasonably priced hotel out at Heathrow (try hotwire or some similar site). Be sure to factor in the cost of getting to/from Heathrow.

I like to stay at the Crestfield Hotel near St Pancras. The rooms are basic, but clean and probably the best deal in the area. Breakfast is included but nothing exceptional.

We stayed at the Ibis Euston. It's a couple of blocks from St. Pancras. Always know what you are getting when you stay with the Ibis chain.

I assume that your flight will arrive in London in the morning. If so, I strongly suggest that you go into London, explore a bit, and stay overnight in London. It takes an hour on the Tube to get from LHR to Kings Cross/St Pancras. Don't waste time and money returning to LHR for the night only to have to get up early the next morning to get to St Pancras International. You can get a two-bed private room at the Oxford Street YHA Hostel for £56.00/room. It's a six-minute Tube ride on the Victoria Line from Oxford Circus to King's Cross/St Pancras.

Arrrgh...Michael.... The Alhambra has been my go to place in London for exactly this reason. Now, if I start seeing those bluebooks fill the place up...I swear............
