We are a family with two kids ages 20 and 22 traveling over Xmas and New Years. We will be spending 3 days in Amsterdam, 4 days in Berlin and 3 days in Prague. Can you suggest centrally located, clean, and relatively inexpensive B&B or apt in Berlin and Prague? We are all set in Amsterdam. Thanks, Sandra
A great spot for any traveler, but especially a family, would be the Kozna 6 apartments of Arcadia Residence. An absolutely perfect spot! Check out
Trip Advisor and then email Pasquale quickly......
These apartments are in the Old Town section of Prague.
For Berlin, I highly recommend Pension Peters. It is featured in Rick's Berlin TV show and if anything he under-represents it. We got a family room for us and our two kids. The room was huge and very well-situated. The real gold of this place is the staff, particularly Charli (sp?) He was amazingly helpful and spent time with each set of guests at breakfast to assure we were completely aware of our options for the day. Best of luck!
When I was in Berlin we stayed at the Hotel Kastanienhof and I really enjoyed it. It's in the East with easy access to transport. There were lots of local restaurants. Here's the website. http://www.kastanienhof.biz/default.aspx?lang=en Pam
We stayed here in Prague: www.hotelmonica-prague.com It is not centrally located, however, you can walk to the bus stop which takes you to the metro. Might be too far out, however, the rooms were very large & modern. It also has a restaurant on the premises. Have fun on your trip!
We stayed at the U Tri Bubna in Prague, just off the Old Town Square.
The Circus Hostel in Berlin (Rosenthalerplatz) was wonderful, and they have top-floor apartments, as well as smaller private rooms available. I highly highly recommend it - very modern and clean, but also home-y, with colours and character. If you are weary of hostels, they also have the Circus Hotel right across the street.
I second Pension Peters. The staff was so nice. Our room was very nice and clean. Breakfast was good. As for Prague, I stayed at Hotel Residence Retezova. It was a very nice place in the old town. They even upgraded my room to a bigger one at no extra cost. Their website is very detailed, showing pictures of the rooms and giving nice details about how many people can stay in 1 room. They have many different room plans.
For Berlin we also liked Pension Peters for all of the reasons mentioned in previous posts. For Prague, we enjoyed our stay at Guest House Lida. It's out of the city center but near a tram stop. The owners are very helpful and the breakfast was good.
Just stayed in an apartment right in the center of Prague, 3 minute walk to the clock! Try www.prague-stay.com. Very reasonable price for an apartment that sleeps 6 and very beautiful. Zorica is the best. I had issues with my computer and they sent a tech person to fix and did not chrage me a penney! Happy Travels!!
i have stayed at hotel 16 in the prague business district very near to wencelas square and the old town. it is family run, super clean and friendly. lots of english spoken, which is good for me. very close stop off of the metro, but the metro is excellent so everywhere is close. consider it. it is not a chain, but above a b & b in terms of the execution. sounds like a great trip. have fun, be safe.
Thanks so much, everyone! Your suggestions have been terrific! Can I ask you all for your educated assistance for B&B or apts in Amsterdam. I think we can do better than our first try! Again, our sincere thanks, Best, Sandra
