My husband and I have been traveling Europe for 2 months. We have spent most of our time in France and Italy. We are looking for a place to visit after leaving Salzburg before we meet a friend flying into Stuttgart to start touring the Christmas markets. We have four nights, November 25-29th. We would like to stay roughly within a 4 hour train ride between the two towns. I would love to hear any suggestions.
Being a practical person, I’d select Munich as the obvious answer. It is not out out your way at all and is on the train route between the towns. You do not say what your interests are or what kinds of activities you’d like to take part in.
Munich, Augsburg and although a bit out of the way, some of the towns on the Romantic Road.
I'd drop south into the Innsbruck area. I can easily spend 4 days looking at those mountains exceeding 10,000' elevation in West Tirol. You can get there by train too.
Munich, it is a city well worth four nights.
Thanks for the input. After looking at the Bavarian alps, we decided to stay in Fussen and see that area. Will save Munich for another trip!
Fussen is an excellent choice! Take a day and see Garmish.
