We're flying from Newark on Continental to Copenhagen and then going on cruise. We like to have a drink in our room before dinner. Is it best to bring gin/scotch with us, buy at Newark Airport, on Continental plane or in Copenhagen?
If you bring it with you (unless you buy at the airport duty free) it will have to be in your checked luggage. Do you want to risk something breaking all over your clothes for the trip? Either buy at the duty free or once you reach Copenhagen.
Many thanks for your suggestion to buy at Duty Free or Copenhagen--it makes sense!
Don't buy it in Copenhagen....taxes make the prices much much higher than in the states.
Last time I was in Germany, I went to the local market and "scouted" out the prices.
Granola was €2/kg, less than $1 per pound.
Beer was €0,29 for a half liter bottle.
And, Scotch was much less than over here. Seems to me it was less than $12 for a liter bottle.
Yes, Germany's prices are pretty good....unfortunately, Denmark charges much more tax on their liquor products. They're the sixth most expensive country for alcohol out of the 27 European Union members....Germany is 22nd.
