We are a family with two daughters who will be 8 and 10 next summer and would love opinions on our next summer adventure. Some background on us and our interests:
This summer we went to Kauai and loved hiking, snorkeling and the rugged beauty of the island. Last summer we spent time in Paris, then rented a house for a week in the south (Roqueseles in the Languedoc ) where we loved visiting vineyards, castles and again lots of hiking and wandering around villages (Pezenas and Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert were favorites). We also enjoyed Barcelona on that trip.
In addition to Kauai and France, other favorite destinations for us are Lake Como, Corsica, Slovenia and Costa Rica. I have lived in France before having kids (Strasbourg, Nice and Paris) so I've traveled quite a bit and am excited for my daughters to experience different cultures and they definitely have the travel bug.
We aren't sit-at-the-beach for a week type of people. We also always love when we are somewhat off the beaten path (why we chose the Languedoc and not Provence, Kauai and not Maui). I've been a professional photographer for awhile now so beautiful scenery is always a top priority.
We would fly out of either Newark or JFK and ideally I'd like to just do 2 flights (Kauai was 4 flights- 2 there/2 home) and we are looking at 2 weeks starting the end of June when kids get out of school.
I hope this is enough info and thank you in advance for any ideas! Some of our ideas are Sardinia, the Azores, Menorca, southern Italy and Greek Islands.
