Where to go in February?

I originally posted a question regarding the Amalfi Coast and travelling in February and a poster raised the question of "why go to a beach town in February" and that got me thinking. With my job, this February will be very slow for me so I hoped to take some time off and travel, if you were me, where would you go?

Thanks so much!!

I've had a great time in major European cities at that time of year--no lines/crowds at museums, symphonies and other cultural events in full swing, hotel prices lower, etc. (But small towns and some tourist sites can be very quiet or shut down--eg, I found Orvieto largely deserted/closed in Feb, but I went for the cathedral and had a wonderful time having it largely to myself.) So it depends on what interests you. It's also a great time to go to the Middle East (eg, Egypt or Israel) if that interests you.

You have beautiful weather year round in Florida. Go ahead and take your trip in February - seeing places in Italy that will not have any crowds at that time of year. Enjoy the peace and quiet!!!

Given that many European destinations have iffy weather at that time of year, I would go to a city with lots of culture and indoor activities, like museums, and great places to eat (indoors). So London, Paris and Rome would be great ideas.

Greece would be a good option that time of yr.
History, sea views, great food, wine, islands to visit.

I agree with Bob - there's nothing wrong with your original plan. The towns on the Amalfi coast aren't really "beach towns." They sit high on clifftops, overlooking the water. True, they have a few small beaches, but I doubt that many people go there for the beach.

Temp's in February should be in high 50's - low 60's & like Bob says, it'll be much less crowded than during the summer.

In December/January we were walking in the ocean in the Algarve region of Portugal. There was no one around, but restuarants, shops, etc were open. It was wonderful.

We also spent some time in Lisbon with the same warm weather, and then headed North to Porto, where we hit the rain and cooler temps.

Southern Spain would be even warmer than Portugul that time of year.
