Hi My husband and I are travling to Europe in late April. He is from Europe and has traveled to most countires inside of Europe. I have been to England, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Romaania, he has been to all excpet for Spain. We are trying to find a place that is new for us both but that isn't likely to happen so we are looking for ideas. Here is our short list, Spain, Austia, Switzerland,and Portugal. We have also thought about going back to France or Italy but somehting new is always exciting, we love to expolore everything and learn, from mountain tops to museums. Any suggestions Thanks!

The mountains in Switzerland and Austria can still be cold and snowy in late April. At time time of year I would definitely go for southern Spain and Portugal. There's plenty to see and do.

Spring in the Mediterranean is beautiful! My favourite spot end of May would be the Greek Isles with perfect temperatures and the landscape in lush greens and beautiful flowers. Other than that, Spain and Portugal would be my second choice.

Are you asking about late April or late May? Your title says one thing, your text another. it makes a difference as some places are still cool or rainy in april but fine in late May. And others are very pleasant in late April but getting very hot in late May.

When we go to Europe (which seems to be at least once a year) we always depart the USA late May. I can't believe you've never been to Switzerland or Austria to see the spectacular scenery of the Berner Oberland. There will be fields of wildflowers in bloom and snow still capped on the highest peaks. If you've been reading this board frequently you know about the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the little alpine villages dotted on either side (Wengen and Murren). That's where I would go. Unmatched dramatic alpine scenery. It's almost unreal.

We're going to Spain in late May so I vote for it!
Have been to the other places in the past and mostly in late March so I would say those places would be nice at the end of May also.
