Hey everyone, kind of confused on where to go this April. Somewhere in Europe would be nice other than Spain as I have been there. I have two weeks. Any suggestions. Also, what the temerature would be like?
Thanks in advance
Thanks AKF,
Everything interests me. I just want to be able to explore a new country. Learn as much as I can. Whether it be a a museum, play or touring a look at historical sites. My main thing is that I want the weather to be fairly decent ie no rain or snow.
If anyone can shre their experiences on where they have gone, that would be great.
Hi Robert, You might consider getting Rick's Best of Europe book from the library to try to narrow down destinations that sound interesting to you. If if were me, I'd probably chose Italy. We were in northern Italy in late March and early April--it was a little chilly but not bad at all. You could also consider Rome and some other towns or small cities nearby that interest you. It's nice to have options!
Hi Robert,
If you give us an idea of what interests you, we will be much more able to help.
Cheers
My super brief snapshot opinion...
Italy - one stop that has it all. Wine, food, beauty, history, architecture, museums/art, and on and on. Italy can be a bit dirty - but it pales in comparison to the benefits.
France - this one grew on me big time! I didn't love it at first. The food, the food, the food. The language is beautiful. The country is beautiful and Paris has so much to offer. But Italy wins out with the history 'WOW' factor.
Germany - my heritage. the most friendly people I have met so far. The beer, the Bavarian countryside and homes are exactly as you would imagine. The food is not for everyone, but I love it.
Switzerland - mouth dropping gorgeous. But expensive. The chocolate was amazing, but otherwise the food didn't jump out at me. Influences of French/German and Italy for food.
So in my humble opinion - Italy is a logical stop for anyone who has not experienced it. It just has it all.
Just so you know, you can't avoid rain in Europe during the month of April.
Hi Robert,
We love Austria and Bavaria. So much to see. Everything from castles and palaces, charming old towns and postcard perfect villages plus the Alps. Hard to go wrong here.

I agree with Italy! I got back from Milan not long ago, and I was amazed how a big city like that was so CLEAN!! I enjoyed Milan, but I suggest Rome. So much more to see! I have not been to Paris yet, and if I can afford it, I'll go next year. I've heard loads of great things about Paris, so you may want to think about Paris as well. Big world out there, and hard to choose!
Where ever you decide to go, I know you will have a great time!
Another vote for Italia! I've got some itineraries on my blog if you're interested, but I highly recommend fly into Rome, see Rome, bus to Siena, see Siena, bus to Florence, see Florence, train to Venice, see Venice, fly out of Venice home. Maybe 4 nights Rome, 2 nights Siena, 3 nights Florence, 3 nights Venice...about 2 weeks? Buon viaggio!
Spring hits earlier the further South you go. In April, most everything North of the Alps will still be waiting for nicer weather. South of the Alps will be perfect in April - warm not hot weather, flowers in bloom and too early for the bulk of the tourists to arrive.
My personal opinion would be either Greece or France (but never been to either in the spring so can't comment on the weather)...
I love everything about France, and I get a little ga-ga at the thought of it.
I spent 2.5 weeks in Greece a few years ago--spent one week on the mainland and another on the islands and it was great. Perfect combination of history and just relaxing...
