We are doing a Housesit for someone that lives in Rochester, outside of London for 2 weeks in March, so we won't be in London every day, but will have ample opportunity to go there at least several times by train and see the sites.
After that, we will have about a week to go somewhere else, and I'm at a loss as to where.
We've been to lots of Italy, Switzerland, Paris a couple times, and Amsterdam several times.
I don't mind taking either a flight or train, but we do have a budget, and so I want it to be fairly close and reasonable, but we'd like to go to another city and just stay put for a week, but don't mind a half day travel time to get there. I'm not interested in museums, so much this trip. We want to experience food, nature, history...
Also, Paris has cheap flights out back to the US so that's something to consider, but we'd like to see something new if possible.
Talk me in or out of the U.K. Don't hate me, but I don't have a strong desire to see it like I do the rest of Europe. So What would you recommend?
