Where to go after Eastern Europe tour?

We finish the Eastern Europe tour in Lake Bled, Slovenia. We fly out of Frankfurt Germany 36 hours later. Recommendations on where to go to fill the gap? Thinking Zagreb, a day in Frankfurt, or 1 more day in Lake Bled? Or something else?

There is a train from Lake Bled(Lesce-Bled is the name of the station) straight to Frankfurt ever day. Departs at 10am from Bled, arrives by 8pm in Frankfurt.

I'd take this train and make a night stopover at some nice place along its route. For example in Salzburg, Munich, Augsburg, Heidelberg, or somewhere in the Austrian Alps.

Ideally the stopover would be somewhere around halfway, like Salzburg or Munich.

36 hours is really a day and a half. The train to Frankfurt is going to eat up most of the one day. 10:00am til 7:40pm. Which means you fly out the next morning home. I wouldn't suggest squeezing anything in that "36 hour" window. I always recommend being as close to your departure airport city as possible the night before. Always plan for the unexpected. It is unfortunate this tour ends in such a poor transportation location (although a great place to visit).
