Where to find a UK to European Plug Adapter

Last year, I purchased a cell phone in London. I'd like to use it in Italy this September. Anyone know where to purchase an Adapter to be able to plug the UK plug into a European Outlet? I can't seem to find one in the US.

Try online first. Second have seen universal adapters at Radio Shack. Good luck.

If you have a local travel store or luggage shop with a travel section, they’ll have them, too.

If you are willing to take a little risk, most likely you can find one cheap in the airport on arrival.

Otherwise look in a travel store or online, I bought a universal adapter here in the states that takes just about anything in one end and has retractable prongs on the "Out" end for about any system.

Looks alot like this one:

Hi there Rosy

If the cell phone you bought is pre-pay, it's likely that it will have been de-activated by now and also it's possible that it won't work in Italy.

I use a phone from Eurobuzz (www.eurobuzz.com). It came with a free travel adapter, so I can plug it in anywhere in the world.

I saw a conversation about Eurobuzz on this forum earlier, I will see if I can find it.

I found one, surprisingly, at the tobaco store in a train station in Italy.

Should be no problem if it's an unlocked phone. Buy an Italian SIM when you get there.

Thank you everyone for the advice! I found a universal adapter at my local AAA office so I am set there. I have one question left. The phone, purchased in London, has a British SIM card in it. If I purchase a new SIM card in Italy which we will need to do in order to get more minutes, the phone number will be different than before and will be an Italian number rather than British, correct? I believe that the phone number is tied to the SIM card, the plan, rather than the physical phone but want to confirm. In the US, it all comes together. Thanks again!

"I believe that the phone number is tied to the SIM card, the plan, rather than the physical phone but want to confirm." You are correct.

You've already found your adapter, but if anyone else is looking Target and Walmart have universal adapter kits. Also, you can find adaptors on ebay (and the U.S. version). Most come from China, but if you have time, they'll arrive within two weeks. In the U.K., I could always find them at Boots or any other drug store.
