I'll be traveling with my husband while he works in Europe for a few weeks. Besides seeing the sites, I'd like to crochet a winter scarf or 3 using yarn I buy there. Where can I donate them instead of bringing them home? I'll be in Germany, France and Switzerland specifically.
It's hard to be specific when you don't mention details. But there are usually 2nd hand charity shops in most countries. The Red Cross has shops in many countries.
Thanks! Hannover in Germany, Lyon in France, and smaller towns in Switzerland. Red Cross and charity shops are places I hadn't thought about.
Homeless person?
Most large train stations will have a Bahnhof Mission, where they assist travelers, but also those who are destitute or homeless. Drop off your scarves there.
What a kind thing to do. Thank you.
There is a group of women in Frankfurt that knit all year long and once a year drop off hundreds of scarves, hats, mittens, socks to the place where I volunteer. The joy on peoples faces when they get to pick out something new, something in the color that they like, something made with love, something that they need, moves me every year.
Mrs. Jo, thank you for that info! That's exactly what I was looking for and there's one in Hannover. Maybe I can find one in Geneva near the end of our trip. I'd prefer an organization, but would give to a homeless individual if none is available.
Yes, there was such a mission in the Munich main train station
