Where to buy a money belt?

Hi all,

I am traveling very soon, and am not thrilled at the prospect of paying for expedited shipping online. Is anyone aware of any national department stores or luggage stores that carry money belts?

Thanks in advance,

Ashley

Look for local luggage stores, stores that sell travel accessories, even your local AAA. Some Sporting Goods store might sell them.

Here's a link to retailers in Florida who carry Eagle Creek Products. They make different types of money belts and are excellent:

Target has then for about $8. So does Walmart.

They sell money belts at any Target or Walmart luggage department.

You can usually find them in the luggage section of most departments stores. Even Walmart carries them.

Walmart, $8 with the luggage, saw them yesterday.

Rick's one that hangs over your belt loops though is fantastic. A lot more convenient than the around the waist ones. We grabbed one for my Dad.

Thanks for the suggestions,

I'm currently on page 6 of 16 in Target "travel accessories". A search on Wal-mart's website was fruitless as well. Might they go under a different name?

I do see fanny packs and the sort...but they are to be worn over the clothes, not under..

Thanks

Look at Rick Steves' travel store to see about his money belts. We've had several of them.

VICTORY. Hidden on page 15, however - "not available in store"

I will call some of the camping stores, specialty luggage places.

Thanks

Miss B,

I definitely would have been interested in the RS money-belt, but since I am traveling soon, I need to be able to drive to a store, and leave with it in my hand. I'll be traveling even before I leave the country, and won't have a shipping address where I can receive the items.

Thanks for the suggestion though..If I'm not able to purchase one for this trip, I may just order the RS for future trips

Ashley, despite what the website told, you will find them at your local Target, and or WalMart...any store (big or small) that sells luggage will sell money belts. As a last resort you can even purchase them at the Airport.

Lately, I've seen Rick Steves' money belts at luggage stores. The Container Store also has travel accessories and I think they have the Eagle Creek ones. The Eagle Creek website lists the stores that sell their products.

Sears has them in the store as well, near the luggage.

Ashley, try The Container Store for a RS travel type wallet that you can thread thru belt loops and hide inside or you can pin it inside your pants/skirt on the inside. I have one from the Container Store that I actually like better than Rick's because it has more compartments. Probably any travel/luggage stores in one of your big malls will have also.

Outdoor, camping, mountaineering stores all carry them too. e.g. REI

Be sure to get a SILK or microfiber moneybelt. When I was shopping for them Rick Steves' brand moneybelts were clearly superior to all other brands. I recently have seen some new and improved Eagle Creek products so that may be no longer true, but the moral of the story is to get a light, soft, slim, comfortable version. All money belts are not equal.

Web sites lie.

(Seriously Targets told me the patio furniture sitting outside my house was "not avaialble in store" but I went and bought it there)

As for the OPs question. Recently I have seen money belts in the following:
Target
REI
Container Store
Luggage Store at mall (Mori in my case)

Surely you can find one!
