Tami's post on electronics got me thinking -- I'm a new itouch owner, and I have no idea where I would keep it on me when I'm traveling. I don't like carrying anything valuable. Where do you guys keep your iphones/itouches when you're walking around during the day?
We kept our few electronics with us at all times, in our messenger bags. The key was that we had few electronics. It's important to only bring what is absolutely necessary.
Hotel room safe, or this portable safe from PacSafe:

An iPod Touch would be on me at all times, since it's my internet, maps, currency converter, phrase book, etc. It's compact and light enough to keep in a pocket. I wouldn't worry about carrying it with me.
I agree with Anne…I’m sure one of the reasons you purchased an iPod Touch in the first place is to use it when you’re out and about. If you’re taking it with you while traveling, I would recommend simply carrying it in your front jeans pocket…millions of teenagers, college kids, and others carry it that way every day all around the world with no problem. That's what I do. Here’s a (mildly) interesting bit of information I read recently: In Milan, 80 percent of women carry their mobile devices in a bag, while only 30% carry it that way in LA. In India, China, and Brazil, it’s common to carry more than one device at all times.
Maureen,
I feel it's essential to carry at least some electronic items with me at all times, including the IPod Touch. The App's that I have installed (including some of Rick's tours, etc.) will be needed while touring, so there's not much point in leaving it back at the Hotel.
My situation is a bit different in some ways, as I usually wear shirts with at least one pocket, which is where the IPod Touch normally resides.
I also keep my Cell phone with me at all times, and of course my Camera. There have been a few occasions in the past where it was really helpful to have the Cell phone available when needed.
Cheers!
I use the PacSafe StashSafe 100 or 200 (fanny packs) depending on what I need to carry around that day.
The 200 will hold a lot of stuff. The 100 can carry quite a few essentials.
They are slash proof, snatch proof and tamper proof.
I keep my iPhone in my pocket or handbag. It's small enough.
I keep them all (camera, ipod, netbook, gps) with me at all times in a bag with secured zippers, and I never let it out of my site.
If I don't need them, I either put them in the safe or locked in my suitcase (using a TSA lock I normally have on my suitcase).
