Where do I get Visa for Turkey?

You get it when you enter the country. You need cash and I think it is $20 U, maybe $25. In someways it is more of a tourist tax than a true visa but if that it what they want to call it - so be it.

Frank. Thanks. I wonder, do we pay that before we clear through immigration, or is that a step of clearing through immigration?

I've never entered through Mamaris, but everywhere else it's bought about two steps before immigration. It's actually just a tourist tax, no checking about anything. I think twenty bucks is the going rate. They'll take dollars or sterling for sure, but maybe not euros.

It was 20 US when we went in but I thought I had read or hear something that it may have increased to 25. Either way, they want US currency. It is part of immigrations but don't remember where. Seems like someone want $20, then the stamped the passport. Don't worry. It is all part of the routine and you will not miss it.

I will be landing in Istanbul 2 weeks from now and the RS letter says the visa fee for USA citizens is 20 dollars cash only exact change. Fee for Canadians is higher.

At the border entry point you pay, and the currency is Turkish Lira or Euros in cash. No cards

I believe the fee for Canadians is $60. For someone from the UK it's £10. You do get a lovely colourful stamp in your passport.
But for $60 I think I'd want it to be hand painted!

My instructions from the RS handbook is USA citizens can use US dollars and the fee is 20 dollars/person. Charlie e-mailed me and said first thing to do is go to the line on the left if in Istanbul before you go through passport control.

Hi Lawrence- yep, it is 20 dollars a person at the airport in Turkey and you basically get in the non-turkish line at the airport- pretty simple and obvious.

Maggie of Boscombe, UK (see above) says a Canadian must pay $60 for a tourist visa. This shocked me, so I went to the Turkish Gov't Visa site which states that for Canada no visa is required for stays under 90 days. Since I will be visiting for a day from a cruise ship next month, that came as a great relief

Norma, that's great news. I was a bit shocked when I saw that price, which was back in May. I have dual citizenship, so maybe when I go again next week I can afford to travel on my Canadian passport ;-)

I don't believe Norma's information is correct. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs' website states the following: "Canada: Ordinary and official passport holders are required to have visa to enter Turkey. Ordinary passport holders can obtain three-month multiple entry visas at the Turkish border gates." The visa fee (for 2010, at least) is quoted as 60 USD or 45 EUR for Canadians. I imagine there is an exception or special deal for cruise ship daytrippers, but the standard entry visas appear unchanged.

Have been off of two cruise ships in Turkey and there has been any entry problems or question or fee. Had to show ship picture id but that was it.

i got one in mamaris 2 yrs ago. i came in from rhodes, and got the visa at the mamaris port. there is no security, just a custom window. pay cash and they give you a stamp good for 3 months multiple entries. canadian pay more than american.
