I'm a US citizen who recently studied abroad in Seville, Spain for the semester and I was on a student visa. However, I left Spain on May 22nd. My visa doesn't expire until July 14th, 2010. Since May 22nd, I do have stamps in my passport that shows me having arrived back in the US and having gone to Argentina since then. It is possible I might be getting an internship in Paris after a background check, and it could potentially start in late September early October. Could someone please tell me when the 90-day clock restarts - May 22nd or July 14th? Thank you!
It's 90 days in a 6 month period.

Is your visa work kind? if yes you might be able to pass that rule.
I would google more about it or email the web site I posted.
Here is more info but not sure how official this web site is:

Or go to the France embassy web page. I am sure they have a lot of info.
As you were there for a semester, I am assuming you spent over 90 days in the Schengen zone. You are allowed 90 days in a 6 month period, so the clock resets 6 months after your initial entry date.
This internship, if it pays, is another issue. Shengen does not apply to work (as opposed to business, tourisim, etc).
The internship is not paid and was told I wouldn't need a visa since it's under 90 days. But overall I shouldn't have a problem entering in France since I left May 22nd, but the visa expires in July?
The student visa overrides the tourist visa.
You can legally return and stay in Spain until July 14th when your student visa expires. That visa was only for Spain.
You chose to leave Spain, and Schengen, on May 22. Therefore, technically, it's 90 days past that.
However, you may have to apply to France for a visa to cover your internship. Whoever is giving you the internship will have to sponsor you.
The rules can get very complicated.
