What to know about this itinerary? IND-BRI+ BRI-TIA

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out why you want so many passport stamps that are unnecessary and only fill up passport pages when they aren't required. Just a reminder that some countries require a whole page for just one visa, and some countries require a certain number of blank pages. Fill up that passport and you need to do a renewal before it expires.

Incoming passengers to YYZ with US passports use E gates. No passport stamps any more.

Zurich is your first stop in Europe, so you will go through EES. If all aspects are operating, your passport shouldn't be stamped, but it might if the system isn't operating fully on the day.

BRI (Bari) would be considered like a domestic flight. You won't go through Immigration there.

I wondered this too, but strongly suspect the final destination is Tirana, Albania (TIA) and not Tirupati, India (TIR). (Don't make up airline codes if you're not completely sure!)

melmay, Please give the city names and not airport codes. You can see the confusion regarding your final destination. Did you mean Tirana, Albania?

Using just wrong airport codes or your own city abbreviations confuses us.

You did not say when your flights will take place.

When you arrive in Zurich(?) you will go through immigration. No one nows if EES will be operating. If it's regular immigration you may get a stamp. This is where you enter Schengen.

Are you using BRI which is the airport code for Bari, italy or your abbreviation for Brindisi? Either way, you will go through exit immigration there IF you are flying to either Tirana or India. Whether or not you get a stamp depends on whether or not EES is operating. This is where you exit Schengen.

Remember, you need to be back at least two hours before your flight or longer if checking luggage.

Speaking of checking luggage, are you? If so, it should be checked through to BRI--whatever that is--but you will have to retrieve it there and check it in for your next flight since it is on a different ticket.

How long it will take you to get through immigration is anyone's guess. Customs is usually a walkthrough. (They are two different things. Immigration is for people, customs is for your stuff.)

By the way, there would have been a lot easier ways to get to Tirana than four different flights.

Okay okay okay, sorry.

I fixed the post with the airport codes. I didn't "guess at" or "make up" the airport codes....they were just a blip. Tirana I knew was TIA; I think I have just been typing T-I-R while searching for bus routes and day trips and hotels and what not....I got used to typing it to let the autopopulate fill in. So, just been in the habit of typing it, and it was a blip. As for Zurich, that was a mental lapse altogether. I really did think it was ZUR.

I apologize for the confusion, but it was not me just making stuff up. Tirana, Albania and yes BRI for Bari, Italy. No I'm not checking luggage.

A couple of people mentioned easier/quicker ways to go to Tirana; I spent weeks reviewing flights. And yes, there may have been easier ways to get there. But, some of it was pricing. Some of it was time of day that I was wanting to fly out. And, there were certain airports I wanted to avoid. I didn't want to fly through Chicago or JFK or AMS among others. After I had already booked this flight, a flight did pop up, Air Transat, directly from YYZ to TIA. I am sure it was there before, but I just never came across it. Not sure if it was because of the pricing, or because it was a carrier change.

Anyway, I'm well aware that my itinerary is unorthodox. But...I am kind of unorthodox. (weird) So...for me, it kind of works.

Someone asked about the stamps. I am sentimental. My only reason for wanting them is just to....have a passport book full of stamps. No real reason, just....what it symbolizes, I guess. It's old-school. It's something tangible I could leave my (non-existent) kids. Yes, they could see pictures of my adventures, but....there is something romantic about a passport. I have my grandmother's actually, even though she only went out of the country once. Like I said....sentimental.

Interesting route. Sounds like an adventure. I assumed that “stamp your passport” was a euphemism for going through passport control but saw your last post. I understand that. I miss my stamps too. You will get one in Tirana.

Switzerland is in Schengen and even as a transfer the EES thing is done there. So ZRH and TIA would be the only places you mess with passport control … and maybe if you get picked for some reason or declare something customs.
