I have a couple of flights coming up, and I am just trying to get all my layovers and plans squared away.
The main questions I have are: how long should I expect to get through customs? When should I be back to the airport in time for security? Where can I go/how do I get a stamp for my passport? Is there anything else I should specifically know about these airports/destinations? Also, wanting to know how Schengen area will or won't affect anything.
IND-BRI. This is all on one ticket but includes layovers at YYZ and ZRH.
The YYZ layover is only around 2-3 hours, so I will stay at the airport; I believe I read that US passengers traveling through go through a more limited customs procedure, rather than the full customs for arriving passengers. I am willing to go through the full customs experience to get a stamp for the passport. Thoughts?
In ZRH, I have a longer layover, almost 7 hours. So, I do plan to go into the city for some sight-seeing. I will have to go through the EES process, so I will need to account for time for that. I believe I have seen that a passport stamp is almost impossible, but if anyone knows any tricks, I'd appreciate it.
BRI is the final destination for this ticket. I will then be transferring to a low-cost carrier, for the BRI-TIA route. I will have about 5 hours, so I will likely go into the city for a bite to eat. I am kind of hoping with BRI being a smaller airport, perhaps they may still use passport stamps by request. When I was in Italy a couple years back, I didn't get a stamp in Rome when I arrived, but I did get an exit stamp in Napoli. So...hoping I might have some luck.
Anything I should know about security, customs, passports, etc, with any of these airports? Thanks so much!
