What says

My sis-in-law is leaving for Paris next week & asked me if there's anything to bring home for her 18 yr. old daughter that just says "Paris." I couldn't really think of much - just Eiffel Tower t-shirts & something from Pylones . . .
Anyone got any ideas?

Perfume, scarves, or lingerie are a few I can think of.

Everyone needs at least one mini Eiffel Tower. They're cheap, easy to carry and fit well in a carry-on size bag.

One of the cute things I wish I had bought when I saw them were these cute little purses - the one I wanted was in pink and it said PARIS on it, much like the signature coach purses (so it was pink on pink). It even had a little Eiffel tower as a zipper pull. I think a 18 year old would love one, although it was two or three years ago, I don't know if they still sell them. We saw them in the shops around Notre Dame cathedral. Maybe she can pick one up for me!

I really liked the pashminas - very european in general. But I think what I enjoy most are pictures from the streets of paris. You can take them home, doctor them up and bit and print them in black and white, put them in a ikea black wooden frame and it instantly looks like a piece of art. What better from Paris than scenes from the streets of Paris? And there's nothing really to pack except for a memory stick or some film.

Maybe not the thing for an 18-year old, but a great souvenir is the catalogue from the food market at Galeries Lafayette. They have great art as full page advertisements that are great to frame once you get home. We have a number of them on our kitchen walls.

I have a friend that lives in Paris that visited me in the States this last Thanksgiving. She brought me several things from Paris:

French women's magazines (like mademoiselle)and newspapers (I am a French student)

an Eiffel Tower keychain

Chocolate

and the best-- a purple beret

Hand towels are great that say Paris on them. Also cloth shopping bags. They are so useful after you arrive home and make great gifts for the family. I'm still using mine after 5 years.

I don't think you will have any trouble finding wonderful souvenirs in Paris -- don't really have to plan ahead, they will hit you!
