That is my question.
Don't just type Lola or you'll also get any posts that mention your name. Type: Lola Seattle,WA and you'll get yours.
Thanks! I have tried that, but they seem so random. Is there any way to see them in order, most recent first?
Hi Lola, I was just wondering the same thing yesterday, because I was trying to find an old post of mine and couldn't locate it. have you tried emailing the webmaster and asking? I'd be curious to hear the answer. :)
Gretchen-if you don't have a lot of posts (like thousands) you can see them all this way: go to a thread you started. Look for the "edit user" button. That will take you to your profile, and at the very bottom of that you will see a link to your User History. The trouble with that function for me is I have so many posts it locks up my computer! But hopefully it will work for you. I am just trying to see th elast few days, so I will try a cleverly-crafted search query.
Thanks Lola! I never noticed that before. I just spend an hour re-reading some old posts, including ones right when I joined up. Ahh, what a newbie O was!! Funny reading!
I was looking at my old posts on Fodors a few weeks back...wow did I get into some great back and forth before we invaded Iraq. It was comforting to see that I forecast that mess pretty much the way it panned out. I loved all the posts from the chest thumpers of how we would find weapons of mass destruction, how Saddam was involved with 9/11, and how horrible the French were for not supporting Bush's grand cause. I am sure those posters do not want to re-visit that. Like another poster here it is always interesting to read those old posts and some of the queries posted when we were novices.(:-) I also have made a few great friends through my various posts.
I think that Tripadvisor has the most user friendly tools for finding your old posts.
... it locks up my computer ... actually three things are going on at the same time which may cause you to have to wait for the PC. The website has to find all your posts, collate and download the whole lot. Your PC has to open the file and format the whole lot and then display them. I did that with mine the other day, on a wimpy netbook running 7 on a wimpy Atom processor and it did freeze everything up for a while but I left it to stew and after about 15 minutes I had it all there and was able to move on. I grant you that the current software running the Helpline isn't the spiffyest sleekest thing known to (wo)man but aren't we lucky that we do have it and aren't reduced to the ond Usegroups of yore? Good luck finding what you're looking for, Lola.
Thanks, Nigel, I did find it. I was looking for a very recent post, to see if the OP had seen it, and using a distinctive keyword in the search brought it up right away. And if I ever want to browse all 4800+ of my old posts, I will just be patient. 15 minutes is a long time! It did start loading with the oldest first, so I could see the 3 or 4 oldest while waiting. That was pretty interesting.
