What is a good walking shoe that will also go through the airport security with no problems? I have looked at the Crocs, but boy are some of them ugly.
In the US you have to take off your shoes anyway so it doesn't necessarily matter. Dansko's (a clog type shoe) are comfy shoes and they slip on an off.
I know that we have to take the shoes off for inspection; however if the inner soles have gel stuff, will that be a problem? My shoes came with gel inner soles that can be removed. I don't want to risk having them taken away. But, I am partially handicapped and walk with a cane. I need good shoes with good support.
I don't believe it matters now anymore.
I got a pair of Staubio Columbia shoes from sierratradingpost.com for $35. They look good and thet are very light.

Many shoes have gel insoles. I've never seen them confiscated. That may be why all shoes have to go through the x-ray now.
Any shoe that slips on and off easily is good for the airport. Nothing's worse than wrestling with your shoes at security when you are trying to get your stuff and get out of the way of lots of impatient travelers.
I guess I am not making my question clear. The TSA regulations states:
Gel shoe inserts - Gel shoe inserts are not permitted, but shoes constructed with gel heels are allowed and must be removed and screened. Read more on our shoe screening policy. Carryon- no checked -yes.
My shoes have gel inserts that came with the shoes and can be removed. My question is, is the TSA referring to these types of inserts or are they talking about the kind you get off of a shelf at Wal-mart?
Even if I take my shoes off which is required, and there are the gel inners in the shoes, will they be confiscated?
OK, I bucked up and called the TSA folks. They say my shoes will be fine because the inserts came with the shoe.
Now I can go to the Hollywood Charity Horseshow with no worries. :)
