What European Country for NYE?

We are thinking of going to some country in Europe for 5 days to celebrate New Years - Any suggestion what country?

Beltine (News Years Eve) celebrations in Scotland are supposed to be among the best! There are all kinds of things to do including bonfires! In some areas the celebrations continue for 2 or more days. Edinburgh has a strong reputation for an excellent celebration.

Berlin has a pretty big party at the Brandenburger Gate and the Germans buy a ton of fireworks to shoot off. This will last a minimum of an hour and folks will still be shooting them off til the weeeeee hours of the morning. Berlin is just a party town anyway and there is so much there to see, that 5 days would be fantastic to spend there.

I really do agree with Jo! I love Berlin a lot!! I've never been there for New Years, but I can imagine how much fun it would be there! I'm not a big party person, and I still love Berlin! Hope to get back there soon.
Jo, does the Berlin Philharmonic perform for New years? They are really great!
Happy Travels!
