What android translation app ?

Is there an app that translates my English speech to Spanish, German etc speech that is self contained on my tablet and does not need wifi internet connection to work? Google Translate app is good but needs internet access. Update - I found I can install languages on the tablet and it recognizes my English and translates to eg Spanish but doesn't speak it in Spanish - only shows the translation in text. Still looking - any suggestions?

Have you tried jibbigo? I believe that it works offline...
I have used it extensively and there are many languages to choose from. It will translate written English into both written and spoken for whichever language you upload.

Google translate will speak it in Spanish. Press the microphone icon. It also has the ability to read and translate text eg. a menu using the camera icon.

I have Google Translate and have downloaded Ukranian. The download took about forty minutes. It is a stand alone program on your phone so you don't need WiFi or any external connection. It looks promising but you have to download each language you want to use. Preliminary testing seems to work well. I'll be able to tell in April.

We used jibbigo a couple of years ago for a trip to Spain. You have to buy an app for each language. While not perfect, I thought it worked as well or better than most translation apps.

The strengths were typing something in (for us on an Ipod touch) then reading the translated version. The translation was understandable if not exactly how a local would phrase it. My wife, who spoke no Spanish, communicated with some people that way; she would then hand her Ipod to someone and let them type in a Spanish response and read the translated version. I relied on my less than fluent Spanish to get by. Jibbigo also helped identify a word you might see on sign or menu.

The weak part was many words or phrases are idiomatic and jibbigo couldn't give a reasonable translation. The voice recognition part was completely useless. If you tried voice recognition, it went into permanent wait mode.

Seems that facebook bought Jibbigo and it's disappeared.
