For those that traveled from the west coast to Europe last summer, what prices did you pay?
I'm tracking for flights for 2014, yes early, but I just want to know if I find something reasonable or good so I can grab it. I'm seeing $1550 and up!
Yes, the airlines a gearing up to rake in the dough next summer. But hey, you can get a round trip out of Sacramento to Paris for $711 this November.
Ok, don't rub it in...I can't go in Novemeber!
Check Iceland Air. They had some cheaper ones.
There are some good fares out of LAX for summer but not from SFO/OAK. I would know this because we were going to take 4 more family members from the BA with us this summer but they aren't able to go now, I had been checking these airports. Last summer we got some good tickets LAX to Dusseldorf and then just hopped on a train to get us to our final destination. The RT price was $750. This summer I'm seeing those same flights for $900-$1000. Not bad but I was spoiled with the $750 fare. This summer we are flying from LAX to Vienna, where we are going to spend our vacation, for $895 per person. I was shocked to see this fare. I had been looking at Zurich and Munich at around $1500 per person. You might think about driving to LA for one of these flights if they are close to your destination. You might even find a friendly travel helpline family to stay with the night before???
Wow, Mona those are great prices! I wish in lived in LA. I'm not sure if it is really worth it when it is all said and done to try to go to LA. But, I may consider it. Thanks!
If it was a lot cheaper to fly from LA it would be worth it to take a cheapie Southwest flight down there. My brother did that.
Yes, look at Kayak for a 23 day RT to Paris on July 2, $996. Maybe worth a ride to LaLa Land.
Another option is the non-stops from SEA and PDX to Amsterdam or FRA. The Southwest or Alaska air flight cheap for the connector would save you some money.
For a flight this past summer June 2013 SFO-FRA-SFO I paid $1500 plus on Lufthansa. Had I flown to London, ie SFO to LHR to SFO, the price would have been about the same on Br. Airways.
My recent rt flight sfo to Lhr was a little over $1100. Only 422 of that was "airfare." The rest was taxes and fees. The largest fee was 478 "international surcharge."
