Web Formatting

Would you like to use formatting in your posts? Of course you would. If you know how to use BB code like other forums use, you can go ahead and use it. Not all BB code works here as we are using a custom set of tags. I'll put up full instructions as soon as possible. Webmaster tests: Color test Test that line breaks still work with the new upload. testing quote b test i test s test Link Test: home code test Bullet test: 1 2

Andrea: BB Code Instruction Does anyone know how to enter a url and have it open up a new tab?

If you use Firefox, there is an add-on you can download that will automate BBcode with a right click of the mouse. On the menu bar go to Tools, select Add-ons, and search for bbcodextra.

Thank you for your hard work. However, for those of us who are not so tech savy, my future wish is for a way to not have to use code. I'll never be able to do that- I've tried and it's just beyond me. I am following a dear friend on CaringBridge and their response box has controls just like MSOffice Word. It is so easy to add color, change font or size, bold, underline, etc. and web addresses automaticlly come up as links. Oh- and it spell checks too. Also- hubby insists on us using Explorer- so firefox is out.

Frank II, I don't know if it works the same in BB code, but in HTML you insert target="_blank" after the href= statement.

"Also- hubby insists on us using Explorer- so firefox is out." Toni: You can use both Internet Explorer and Firefox on the same computer. Hubby can use IE and you can use Firefox.

In answer to you previous question, Frank (II), according to a website I found, BBCode, otherwise known as "HTML for Dummies" does not have a provision to open the URL in a new window. I think if you "click" with the 3rd mouse button, it will open the window in a new tab.

Toni, I use both Explorer and Firefox, on the same computer. Firefox because after years of non-tabbed browsers, I am constantly closing the tab, and hence the entire window, with the 'X'. When you reopen Firefox, it restores the previous session. However, Firefox does not allow me to open an ftp session as a Windows window, so I can't drag-drop files to my website server, so I use IE for that. I guess I'm more pragmatic than your hubby. I use whatever works. What does he have against Firefox?

It's not that he has anything against firefox, just that he sees no need. He learned computer programing back in the days of cobol... he loves having the newest "thing" with all the bells and whistles, but some things are just what they are. And in a way I have to agree. I don't think I want to be switching constantly. I can live with plain text and paragraphs on this board. I'm just not a techno geek.
