Weather right now in Europe

Just an FYI: I am currently in Europe: London,Paris, and Prague. It is really cold. I wish that I had brought more sweaters and a winter coat. I have gloves, scarves and heavy sweaters but I am really cold! It is more like winter than fall and lots of rain. Those of about to laeve may find this info helpful. Happy Travels!

Same here - I spent all of September, until the 29th, in Europe and was shocked that it was sooo cold! People departing for Europe, beware and pack accordingly. I had only 1 long-sleeved top (thank goodness I took thick socks) and had to keep layering my clothes to keep warm in certain areas.

My wife constantly asked about the weather before we left, but I don't think she processed what it would really be like, instead letting the 80s and 90s we were experiencing in South Carolina guide her astray. She didn't have enough with her to stay as warm as she wanted to be. If the highs are going to be in the 70s, with clouds, that's likely to feel cold to many, especially if there's any wind at all. Don't forget that the high is usually only reached around 2pm or 3pm.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll be spending a few weeks in France and Italy beginning late this month (Oct.)...... I always carry some sort of ear-warming headgear, but also find that a scarf helps a lot. I'm going to add some longjohns to my wardrobe and probably some thick sox to sleep in......I'm really counting on Rome and Sorrento being warmer than the rest of Europe.

But to put things in a more Europe-wide perspective, the weather here today near Mannheim could not be more pleasant for an autumn day (although is was raining this morning).... I'm pretty sure the weather is also quite different in Italy, Spain, Helsinki, Bergen and Istanbul as well. Not everyone who's visiting the continent in the next few days needs to bundle up.

I say be prepared! If someone would have told me it is very cold and rainy, I would have brought a few more warm clothes! 11 C to 13 C is cold, not to say it won't change. Just a heads up for those who maybe leaving soon. Happy Travels!

We just got back from a bike trip in England, and froze our buns off. it rained the first day, then was cloudy and windy for the next 8 days. We planned ahead and had plenty of warm clothing, but it took us hours and a hot shower to warm up each afternoon. I'm heading to France on Sunday to hike and have already packed Smartwool long sleeve tops, fleece jacket, rain gear, wool hat, gloves. I've been debating about taking my down sweater, and I think I'll toss it in the daypack "just in case". Seems like after September 1 in Europe (northern countries) it cools down quickly daytime temps, and evening temps are in the upper 40's. (southern Italy/Spain excluded - it's cool, but not that cool)

I'm leaving on Tuesday, and I've been following the Benelux/Berlin/Budapest forecasts for the last few days - looks like a high of 55-60 with lots of showers...definitely glad I stocked up on sweaters, and I think I'll wear a warmer jacket!

We got back Sunday from two weeks in Belgium plus a couple days in Paris. It certainly wasn't like the winters we have in Pittsburgh! Be advised, if you are used to cooler weather - these reports may not be helpful. I thought the temperatures were perfect. It was mostly in the 50s and 60s. A t-shirt and fleece were fine for me. My husband wore shorts and a t-shirt or long-sleeved most of the time. The one day it was in the low 70s and sunny was uncomfortably hot for us. We're always moving, so cooler is defintely better.

I have been to Paris in Novemeber and January and it was not this cold. Not once in the last two weeks did I see a man wearing shorts but I saw them wearing hats and scarves! I guess some people would think it was warm enough to bring their bathing suits. All I can say is that when I looked at the weather for Paris before I came, it was 76 and 74 for the first two days. After that it was raining and never went above 55 in Paris. Now in Prague it is even colder and the temp went below 40 at night, to me that's cold and one needs to pack accordingly. To those who said thanks for the heads up you are welcome, to all others sorry we don't agree. Happy Travels!
