Weather in Florence, Italy end of October/cooking class

Hi, Has anyone been to the Florence/Tuscany area in late October? I am trying to
plan for our upcoming trip. Can you wear jeans or pants to some of the churches? Any suggestions where to take a cooking class there. Thanks!

I was there the last week of October 3 years ago. there were a couple of rainy days but mostly ok, 50's to 60s during the day, chilly at night especially if you are going to be up in the tuscan hills (had frost on the car the last morning at the farmhouse we stayed in which was high up). Keep in mind the time change and the fact that your days will be shorter, which results in some sights closing earlier, so plan accordingly. Of course you can wear jeans/pants into churches, you must have your knees covered anyway - maybe you can clarify what you're asking there. I personally never travel with jeans because they are so heavy and can't really be sink-washed. I did not find it so cold that heavier pants were necessary. I wore slacks, which is what I also wore on two trips to Italy in warmer times. I also wore t-shirts and just packed a sweater. In fact for trips in late october and may, I packed almost identically. but i'm a light packer and layer, you probably will pack differently :) enjoy! I found the days too short to return at that time of year but it is a good balance between decent weather and less busy/expensive. Some of the smaller towns in Tuscany were down right empty and driving in the country was a joy. have a great trip.

Thank you for your reply. As far as the jeans/pants thing, I haven't been to
Florence area for about 6 years and I remember how strict they were about clothing. I don't remember if it just applied to bare shoulders or shorts. Thanks for your information. That gives me a great idea of what to pack. Laura

I attended the In Tavola Italian Cooking Lesson in Florence in 2011 on a RS tour. It was approximately 3 hours including the lunch which we had cooked.
It was fun in a group setting. Their website is [email protected].
