Weather in Bath and Cotwalds

Hello Travelers:

My family and I will be traveling in Bath and the Cotswalds the last week in August. Due to the flooding we are considering changing our plans and going north instead. Have any of you been in Bath and the Cotswalds recently? How bad is the damage and does it look like it will be cleaned up soon?

Thank you,

David

My husband and I just returned from a 2 and 1/2 week visit to the UK. We had to change our plans to visit Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon-- not due to flooding in that immediate area, but due to train troubles related to the flooding. Most trains that run in that area have to go through Oxford which was impacted by the flooding. Roads are also problematic. if you go into areas directly hit by the floods (and they haven't stopped, the rain keeps on keeping on)you will have difficulties. I'd suggest a change of plans. We extended our stay in Scotland and London.

The sun is out ( we had to check in an encyclopedia to remind ourselves what that big yellow thing in the sky was ). Bath is OK and missed the floods and the road and rail links to Bath are back to normal. The Cotswalds, particularly the towns and villages that are situated by the river Thames are not out of the danger zone just yet. Some of B&Bs and hotels have some flood damage so it's best to phone ahead. Post again in two weeks time for further update. Don't cancel on Bath but have an alternative to the Cotswalds in mind. Wales ( Brecon Beacons ) and Dorset ( Dorchester ) are both nearby and utterly wonderful.
