Weather 50's- 70's now in Vienna, Prague and Budapest What to Bring?

Was expecting lots of hot weather but for trip starting on Sunday seems it's from 50's to mid 70's.
Now I am not sure what to pack. Was planning on shorts but now thinking long pants might be better, umbrella, rain coat or just hoodie? Also will we be able to go to Baths in Budapest? Any tips are welcome. Thanks!

It depends on you of course...I tend to get very warm, very fast...I usually pack tops+sweaters+raincoat on Summer or Fall trips.
I love my Columbia raincoat...super light...has a hood of course...big pockets...And I can roll it and put it in my big purse!
Personnally, I'd pack at least one pair of black short or long shorts...since I dislike being warm and pants of course.
Weather is unpredictable as we all know...keep check until the day you leave! But be prepared for rain or shine so you enjoy your trip!

Ann,

im a guy so i will pack differently than you.

but I will be going to those places in 2 weeks and as far as I'm concerned, i will pack what i normally do.

long sleeved shirts - lightweight and breathable.
long pants - lightweight and breathable.
jacket with hood, waterproof, breathable, packable and of medium weight to keep me warm.
marino wool t-shirts. they keep me warm too when needed and if its hot/warm out they dont make me feel hot(er).
rain jacket shell with hood for times when a jacket is too warm. The rain jacket has pit vents and is breathable too.

happy trails.

Yes, the weather is weird right now. I am sure it will turn hot again before fall, but the next 10 days looks unseasonably cool.

Pants would be better than shorts. I would also bring a sweater or cardigan - think layers. Definitely an umbrella, but I wouldn't bother with any type of jacket.

Budapest

The long range (next day) forecasts aren’t worth the effort to read them. I would count on 70F to 80F daytime range. Remember the low temperature is generally just before sunrise so you rarely have to deal with that. I’m a guy so it’s easier. Light shirts (long and short sleeve), Light T-Shirt, Long Sleeve T-Shirt and a water resistant shell. Now I can layer for most conditions. This time of year mid afternoon showers are common so the shell or an umbrella is nice to have. The showers are generally short lived and the weather before and after is nice.

The bath houses stay open 365 days a year. Actually, going to the bath house outside pool when it’s cold is an amazing experience. That’s what we plan to do Christmas day.

First of all the Baths are open all the time-rain or shine. You will have time for the baths. I went in the late afternoon and that worked out great.
I would layer. Pack a light weight shell-gortex and also a thin fleece. That should help you if it really gets cool. Plus, if it truly rains you can buy a cheap umbrella on the street or pack one if you have one already.

Also, capris work great and its a good in between. I also pack one pair of jeans. A skirt or two would also be a good idea for keeping cool or if it cools down I can easily put a pair of leggings under the skirt and then I'm warm. Hope that helps.

All good tips. Thank you. As far as baths was thinking of taking water socks since they take less room than flip flops. What did you do for shoes at baths? Also bathing caps and towels. Bring, rent or buy there

The flip flops and the hat are not required at all of the baths any longer. YOu will need to check them individually. But I would suggest something on your feet for health reasons. The hats pack small, the towels can be rented at most places but they aren't really towels by our definition. Outside the Szechenyi baths there are vendors that sell both the caps and the towels. They have souvenir "Budapest" towels. http://www.szechenyibath.hu/ will tell you more about the Szechenyi baths and then go to the menu bar at the top for the other baths or click here http://www.spasbudapest.com/

OH, and remember that if it is a beautiful 75F outside, then indoors it may be somewhat warmer as there isn't much in the way of AC in most of Europe.
