Is the water in public places & hotels safe to drink in Spain?
Not from the toilets, everything else is fine.
"The water in Spain stays mainly safe to drink". (sorry; hangs head in shame)
Never had a problem drinking the tap water. Learned the hard way to stay away from bottled mineral water if you're not use to drinking it at home! Hard to find a public WC quick enough!
There's nothing wrong with the water in Spain. But I'd drink Spanish toilet water before I would drink tap water in China.
I drank Spanish tap water the entire time I was there recently. Not a problem. This is the developed world folks, you can assume unless told otherwise that they have clean drinking water.
The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain...then it is caught, filtered and cleaned. As they say in neighboring France Bon Apetit!
It is better there than it is here!!! But if you want to splure, get a bottle of the water in the dark blue glass bottle...delicious!
Katherine: Anywhere I travel in the west, I drink water directly from the tap, including when traveling in Spain. The only time you need to worry about drinking water quality in Europe is when traveling way beyond the typical tourist routes, such as deep in the Balkans or some of the nations of the former Soviet Union. And then as Nancy mentioned, traveling through many other places in the world would require you to drink nothing but bottled water (like Evian). But in Spain, drink up...doesn't matter if you get tap water from your hotel or at a restaurant, it's absolutely okay to drink. I wouldn't drink water from a sink in a public WC, but I wouldn't do that in Des Moines either.
The rain in Spain does not fall mainly on the plains. It falls mainly on the northern mountains. See http://maps.howstuffworks.com/spain-annual-precipitation-map.htm
Tap water's perfect. Spain has good healthcare.
"The rain in Spain does not fall mainly on the plains. It falls mainly on the northern mountains." Not according to Prof Higgins and Eliza......You'll have to take it up with them ;-)
"Not from the toilets, everything else is fine." -- LOL!! Roger
