Warm beaches in June?

We are traveling from San Francisco to London with our 2 boys (ages 8 & 10 years) from May 30-June 14th. We are planning to stay in London for a few days. After that we would like to head off to a beach destination but want to make sure we find a place where it is warm and we can swim.

What is the best destination in June for beach weather?

Thanks,
Suzanne

Warm weather for sitting on the beach won't be too hard to find. The issue will be around water temperature. I was in Nerja Spain around that time and the beach was good - warm, plenty of people but not overly packed. But the water was fairly cold. Same for Barcelona.

Perhaps Sicily or Greece, being further south would have warmer water? I don't know, but if you ask on the relevant forum I'm sure someone will help!

In early June, the Med won't have had much chance to warm up, so the swimming will be much more bracing than say in the Caribbean.

The islands further south in Greece, such as Crete, Rhodes or Corfu may suit and there are plenty of flights there from London. Alternatively, Croatia, Cyprus, Malta, southern Spain or any of the islands in the Med. It will be beach weather in Portugal by then, but the sea, being the Atlantic not the Med, will be colder.

You are travelling just before Southern Europe starts its school summer holidays, so places will be busy with older people, rather than children.

First 2 weeks in June for warm beach weather in Europe: hmmmm, assuming average weather, you don't want to be looking anywhere in northern Europe.

Be sure to check the connections back to San Francisco from your beach destination (assuming you were planning/hoping to end the trip at the beach). Places like Ibiza and Majorca have tricky connections back to New York, much less San Francisco. You may find that you will have to get up an a VERY early hour to do it all in one day, or else split up the return with an overnight (say, in London or Paris or Amsterdam) to make it work.

Swam in Sorrento mid June and water was like a icy mountain glacier stream!
