wake up time

Looking into RS Tours for the first time. Itineraries are exciting, just wondering what time morning activities/tours begin.

All the tours and even days within tours have varying start times. So for instance you may start early one day to get into a popular site before the crowds. Or to beat traffic out of town. Other days maybe more relaxed in terms of starting time.

It was several years ago but the RS eastern France tour was pretty laid back in terms of start times.

Which tour(s) are you interested in?

I've been on two tours. Paris and the Heart of France and the Best of Switzerland. I looked back through my photos of the daily itineraries and it was usually between 8 and 9 am unless there was a special travel day or special event happening that required an earlier start. Occasionally, the first "event" might be at 1 pm if it was a non travel day and the morning was free time.

I have loved my tours with RS. Wonderful experiences and great groups of people to travel with. The guides are excellent. I have two more scheduled for late summer.

I second Carol's timing. I have done 6 tours.
You generally make your own decision about when to go down for breakfast. The guide will tell you when they start serving and when the group will meet for a walking tour or to board the bus.

I reviewed the itinerary sheets from my tours.
The earliest day started at 7:30, the latest at 9:45.
Most days started between 8 am and 9 am.

I haven’t taken an RS tour; but on the tours I have taken, times were similar to those posted above. To me it’s a negative about tours. Day after day of early rising gets old really fast.

If you're not a morning person, tours may not be for you. I am, so I was good with it. But one morning in Carcassonne I had gotten up before early to take some photos of the sunrise and when I wandered into breakfast 90 minutes later and told everyone where I'd been, they looked at me like I had two heads.

Take into account that before departure time, you have to bring your luggage down to the bus if you're changing hotels - which is every couple of days on most tours.
