Voice translators

Does anybody know the best voice translator for use in Europe? I would really like to have one even though I have found that drawing pictures, gestures and pointing usually works but is really clumsy. I know most people in Europe speak some English and I can understand most Spanish and a little German but am lost with French and Dutch. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I'm an Android user, and my wife and I use the Microsoft "Translator" app. Works great for us. You can type, or speak into it and see or hear another language. Or you can very quickly let it photograph anything and translate it. It doesn't need internet, other than one time downloading of whatever languages you want. And there is a "conversation" mode where two people communicate, but I don't know how that works. Free app, may be worth trying.

Google Translate has a conversation mode that is very handy. You can have a conversation with someone speaking a different language than you without having to do anything.

DeepL doesn't have this.

There is likely a reason why DeepL has 4.6 rating and Google Translate only 4.2 in Google Play app store.

DeepL supports also a conversation by pressing one button between speaking persons which avoids chaos in conversations with foreign people.

And for professional usage DeepL has a Voice solution which lets people from lots of different language backgrounds interact in real-time, e. g. in Video Calls with MS Teams. As app it also has a screen share mode for face-to-face conversations.

btw: you can see in a Cnet test video how people experience the low quality of Google Translate.

Forget Google. Like all from that company low quality.

It's worked very well for me.

People are fickle and I don't rely on ratings as a true assessment.
