Visiting University of Glasgow, Scotland

Hi,
We will be attending our sons Masters ceremony at the University of Glasgow this year and have never been to Scotland. Recommendation for hotels? Thank you

If you are looking for a hotel rather than a B&B we stay at the Premier Inns. They are reasonably priced, secure and usually have a decent restaurant attached. We alternated between these Inns & B&Bs depending on the situation. Check out their web site and see if there is a location that will be handy for YOU. They have all sorts of special deals such as early bookings, etc. Much like a Holiday Inn Express. We stayed at Premier Inns all over the UK and were always impressed. They have a breakfast option that fits our needs. Enjoy Scotland - you will love your visit!

Hi The university's in the west-end. You'll prob want to walk. Look at places like the grosvenor hilton (the grosvenor is the nearest hotel). If you want a graduation mean look at the restaurants around Byer's road - eg The Ubiquitous Chip. If you're going ultra smart it'll be One Devonshire Gardens (i was a regular there, but stopped because I felt I was wasting my money). I'd go Grosvenor and Chip.

You should have a wonderful time. I echo Susan's suggestion that you stay in the west end of Glasgow. If you want to get downtown to tour a bit, there is subway that you can take that is to use. In the west end, look to visit Kelvingrove. It's got a wonderful organ and other interesting exhibits. Personally, I also liked the Botanic Gardens. Also, there is some great music and restaurants. But, I expect your son will know all about them! Pam
