My hubby and I are visiting the Ferrari and Lamborghini factory during our italy journey in April 2018, and have decided to stay in Parma. We want to rent a car for this part of the trip, but we are unsure of what the best area is to stay in Parma. We are interested in being in an area where we can get up and walk around the town, any ideas?

Something in the centro storico would be most convenient, although you may need a place with parking onsite or nearby. The city (the parts of interest to tourists) is quite compact and easy to walk.
I stay at and recommend the Hotel Sthendal Mercure close to everything, and it has a garage, however, parking is not free. Was there 2 weeks ago, and the service is excellent.
I am there on business at least twice a year, and it's my preferred hotel. If planning on a food tour, best to research early, as DW couldn't connect with 6 weeks' notice.
