Moroccan cuisine is said to be one of the most important cuisines in the world and every place every city has special food in morocco . Every visitor to Morocco can savor the delights of its gastronomy when they taste tagines (tajines), pastilla, couscous, harira, and a range of other traditional dishes in the various fine Moroccan restaurants. However, few tourists get the chance to experience the preparation of Moroccan cuisine; something that is essential to understanding the culture.do you never eat Moroccan foods?

Stella - to answer you question Moroccan food is amazing!!! I spent a month in Europe and a few days in Morocco and the food there was my absolute favorite of my whole trip. The tagines are just so good. I actually bought a tagine in Morocco to bring back home, but it shattered in the process. My brother bought me one locally for my birthday and as soon as I figure out a good recipe and how to use it I will be set. All the recipes I am finding are very complicated with lots of ingredients. The tagines that I ate in Morocco were not like that - they were simple but amazingly good. The other food I got was also really good.

Jalal - do you have a simple tagine recipe?? Chicken, potatoes, carrots, etc. I'm mostly not sure what spices to use and how to cook in the tagine. I really wish there was a Moroccan restaurant near me - I would be in heaven! Unfortunately there isn't...

Thanks Jalal and Kelly. I really want to go to Moroco but I am a picky eater and have a limited diet I can follow. Is it very spicy? And is a tangine a fruit? I haven't heard of them.

Stella,

A tagine is a cooking implement (comprised of two pieces of ceramic, a teepee like top and an ceramic bowl for the bottom). The tagine is used to cook couscous with vegatables and/or meat...just thinking about it makes me hungry.

Jalal - thanks for the website. that's a bit more items than i want in mine, but i think i can make it work. I didn't actually order couscous, but I tried my brother's and it was quite good.

Stella - I am a very picky eater also. Tajine is kind of like cooking in a crockpot (but better). The ones I ordered simply had chicken, potatoes, some had carrots, and spices. The spices were not spicy but just wonderfully flavorful. I definately ordered some items in Morocco that I wouldn't have ordered normally, partly because I didn't understand some menus, or the menu wasn't detailed enough. But I absolutely enjoyed everything I had. I did not have anything that was spicy while I was there. The OJ is also very good and there are tons of OJ carts and stands. Make sure to try the chocolate crossaints as well - these are to die for! Morocco has definately gotten me to branch out a bit more in food I have been trying lately. I'm definately getting braver - so that is a plus :)
