I am married to a Russian woman who has a perminent residence card (green card), a U.S. Driver's Liscense, a U.S. Social Security card, and full time U.S. employment, but she still must travel under her current Russian Passport. How do we get a visa for her to enter Europe or England for a three week trip? Also, I understand that even U.S. citizens will have to have a visa to travel to Europe in 2008....is that correct? jy
Greetings
She will need a visa for the UK (see http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk for information on visas - you can apply online, but probably have to go to the consulate in person at some point in the process). For the rest of Western Europe, she should be able to get a Schengen Visa, which covers most of the original EU countries.
FYI, visa status always depends on the passport(s) you have. Foreigners can get SS #s, driver's licenses and US employment, so that says nothing about your citizenship.

She probably will need visa to enter the UK but you should definitely check with the UK Embassy in Washington DC to confirm this: www.britainusa.com
Also, it is not correct that US citizens will need visas to travel to Europe in 2008. The only exception would be Russia.
Thanks Mike & Kate:
What a hassle...we have to take a trip to NY before we can take a trip to the Brittish Isles. Ah well, she will be able to apply for US citizenship in a couple of year. Kate, I so much want Natela to see Edinburgh ....what a wonderful city. Anyway, thanks again. jy
If Russia is not in the EU, she might need a visa for each European country. You will need to check each country's you want to visit web site and see if that particular country will accept the green card in lieu of the visa.
I don't know anything about entering rules of US citizens begining with 2008, but it's possible.
Beaware that it will take mor ethan an year for your wife to get uS citizenship from the time of applying.
