I am will out flying out in a couple days (hopefully) and am carrying camera equipment. One lens and camera body alone weigh 13# and I am not checking the rest of it. Anybody with experience with this type of carry on and Virgin Atlantic? Thanks.

Back in the days right after 9/11 when carry on was severely restricted I bought a hard case which had foam lining and put it in my luggage. And then I bought extra insurance.

Virgin is pretty strict. Make sure you have good travel insurance if you have to check your equipment!
