Virgin Airlines & Carry Luggage Restrictions

Just got back from London and to those asking how many carry ons you can take.. the answer is ONE!
From London Heathrow back to LAX they allowed 1 carry on, even if you have a purse.

As has been mentioned many times before on this board, Heathrow only allows one carryon item. It doesn't matter what airline you are flying on. I just put my purse in my carryon bag -- problem solved.

This may apply to MOST carriers, as the last time I took a US Domestic one, they allowed me to take 1 carryone + 1 purse, and I did fly out of Heathrow.

My apologies if this topic has been used over and over again!

Michelle,

No worries if this topic has been posted before...maybe someone will see it this time who didn't see it before?

How was your experience flying with Virgin?

The one-carryon rule at Heathrow is fairly new (I'm thinking it started in March or April) so it's possible that your last trip was before the new regulations. As long as you know the rule it's not a problem, but would be bad to get there and have to make last minute adjustments. How did you like Virgin? I loved it when I flew with them in May!

I've been to London many times but always on US Carrier because it was $200-300 cheaper. This time I splurged and paid the extra money, even though I still travelled Economy.

The Virgin staff was great! The food wasn't bad either. Going to London I had a beef & potatoes, and a cheese & egg croissant for breakfast. Coming back was chicken marsala for dinner, and a chicken curry wrap for snack.

Unlike the US airlines, wine was free with meals, and alcohol as a beverage. Oh and ice cream during the flight, and hydrated us frequently too!

The video monitor had 20+ TV shows (US, UK and foreign), 36+ movies, 20+ music (Classical to David Bowie!), kids stuff, and video games... all free.

The goodie bag was socks, eye cover, toothbrush/ paste and a pen.

Worth spending the extra money for non US airline!

It's even better if you DON'T pay extra. I lucked out when Virgin opened their new route from Chicago to London, and got tickets for $171 each way! But honestly, I would pay the difference to fly with them again. And even though I didn't do it, I loved the video games that you could play against other passengers on the plane.

I also had a wonderful experience flying Virgin.
The jack tomy movie headset didn't work. They had an adapter to let me share my sisters head set plus let me pick a $50 dollar item out of there catalog for my inconvenience
