Do you have any recommendations for a good budget hotel in Ho Chi Minh City? We will travel there in October.

What's budget mean? A hundred bucks goes a long way, sixty is pretty good, two-fifty is over the top.

By budget, I'm thinking around $50 a night. There seem to be a lot of them in this price range and I'd like a recommendation.

The Royal. About six blocks north of the river on everwhat the street becomes after it crosses the Ong Lanh bridge. Double the price and you can stay at the Continental which was once locally famous.

You will get more response if you post on a travel forum related to Asia. Steves' is for Europe. Try Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree or Fodor's.

We stayed at Tan Hoang Long Hotel in January! The location is great - right in the city center. Very reasonably-priced. We found it on Booking.com. Checked current prices and found $45 - that's about what we paid - it includes a decent breakfast.

If you check a vegetation map of Vietnam, there isn't that much jungle; hence B&Bs might present a problem.

Every once in a while there is a travel question that falls outside of Europe, as always there are many who are willing to pass along good travel information, a great example this past week was someone going to Vancouver Island, many board participants who live there past along great up to date info on things to see and do and where to stay. Maybe the webmaster can start a tab for "Travel Other Than Europe."
