I have been to Wien several times while travelling casual. On my next trip my lady and I would like to do the dinner and concert at the Schönbrunn castle - our big splurge. Does anyone know the dress code for such occasion?
I'm sure we will need a larger roll-on bag.
Hello chic. I do not know the dress code. After you go to that event, please tell us your thoughts about it. I hope to go to Vienna.
I'm not going until September, but I will post a response.
We went to one of these dinners and concerts several years ago and tried to blend in with the other traveling tourists who tend to go to this sort of thing. We wore some of our nicer dark colored clothing, long sleeved shirt for him and light weight jacket for me, a scarf for me and a tie for him and it was just fine. A scarf and a tie + clothing that you could consider wearing for a couple of other occasions shouldn't take up too much room in the small bag that you had already planned to take.
My take on this although I have not been there - at this event you will be with other tourists - probably not locals. Explore the website and unless they insist on formal, wear what is best for you. If you attend an opera in Vienna you will join many more locals and the dress will be more formal.
Thanks, Ron, Mona, and George. Every little bit of info is useful. Chic
I sounded tacky. I didn't mean your info was little. Sorry.
