Thanking all of our Veterans who post on here as well as their families who have supported them.
Many thanks to all who served.
Celebrating my mom's 91st birthday today. She served as a WAVE in World War II.
Grier, you and your family must be very proud of your Mom, and she of herself. I would like to add my heartfelt thank yous to Ms. Jo's and specifically thank her for posting this here. My husband and father both made the Air Force their careers, so I also appreciate you including the families of our servicemen.
Thanks Ms. Jo for starting this link for our vets, here's to
My dad Bob, 92 and still going strong - Army;
My Uncle Frank, 90 - Marines;
Friend Herb, hitting 90 in January - Navy;
they live in Florida and are always honored by various groups - local Church, VA - so I know they are together on this day;
And,
My brother Jim, 65 a disabled Vietnam vet - Navy
Thank you to all Veterans and those serving in the Military. I have great respect and gratitude.
My Dad was career Army, West Point graduate, WWII and the Korean War. He passed away a few years ago at 97. He is greatly missed.
Grier, Happy Birthday to your wonderful Mom!
My Uncle Jim, wounded at Normandy, later worked on the Apollo program for TRW. Taught my mother-his little sis and who in turn taught me-to love photography. One of the greatest men I've ever known.
Thanks Jo. My dad served with Patton all through WWII. He was called back in for Korea. Retired as a Command SGT/MAJ with 25 years in the 70's and passed in the late 80's. He never talked about WWII much but I was able to find a lot about where he was and what he did with Patton. He recieved a battle field comission in Germany. I spent 4 years in the army but did nothing compared to what the veterans did who saw action.
Also forgot to add my uncle who was a Green Beret Captain in Viet Nam, all three of my brothers that served in the army during the 60's and 70's and several of my high school buddies that did not make it home from Viet Nam.
Thank you Jo.
So nice that so many people are appreciative of those who served and died for their countries.
Today I especially remember my Grandfather and Great Uncle, both of whom were killed in France during WWI. My Father who was in the Navy and two Uncles in the Army as well a a cousin in the Pathfinders who was shot down and is buried in France.
Only my Cousin who served in the post war artillery and myself in the Military Police remain with military service.
Over 50,000 people attended the Remembrance Day ceremonies today at the National War Memorial in Ottawa
Nice to see the comments. There was a time when I would not acknowledge being a Vietnam era veteran. Times have changed for the better. Thank you.
Thank you to all veterans on this forum. Your service has done much for us all, including helping give us the freedom to travel!
I'd also like to thank all the Veterans for their service.
This was a day that I remembered my two Grandfathers who both served in WW-I, an uncle that served overseas during WW-II, and other relatives who have served more recently. The Remembrance Day ceremonies here are somewhat more poignant this year, given not only the two recent attacks on our military in Ottawa and Quebec, but also the loss of three RCMP members in Moncton a few months ago.
Yes, thank you to all the veterans. Dad was career Army; Mom was in the Army Nurse Corps WWII, New Guinea.
Frank, special thanks to you and all the Viet Nam vets who are finally getting the notice and appreciation they deserve.
