We have about a week to make it from Verona to Bruges, preferably by train. Does anyone have suggestions for an itinerary that wouldn't be too hectic, but still lets us see plenty? We can't decide if we want to go north to Innsbruck, then up through Germany, or west to Milan, then up through Switzerland. One thing that complicates everything is that my travel partner does not want to travel on overnight trains....
7 days only gives you enough time to visit a couple of places at the most. Any more than that and you will spend more time in transit than sightseeing. In your shoes I would fly to Brussels, then make your way to Bruges via train (1 hour). Spend two nights in Bruges, and spend the rest of your time in either Amsterdam, Paris, or London. All three are about three hours away via high-speed train.
