In August '07 I had made reservations to stay in a Francamaria room in Vernazza. They asked for my credit card info to reserve the room and gave me two phone #s and an email address for contact if I needed to cancel. I did eventually need to cancel, and called both #s to do so. But both just rang and rang with no voicemail or answering machine. Therefore, I had to cancel by email (which their website says is the preferred way to cancel). I received no email reply. Weeks later the charge for one night from Francamaria appears on my credit card statement. Several subsequent emails to them about the charge were not replied to. I have notified my card's customer service, but now several months have passed with nothing resolved. Now Francamaria claims they never received my cancellation email. NOTE TO SELF AND OTHERS: Always assume your reservation is still active unless you receive that reply confirming your cancellation! If cancelling by phone get a name.
