I got a loaner phone to use in Italy next week which I feel comfortable with. They told me I could use my current "Droid" phone to access the internet and my "apps" when I was in a free WiFi location. I am very worried about incurring charges. Does anyone know about this? What about the "airplane" mode?
THANKS!
You should be safe. Verizon's phones use a different radio technology from the ones that work in Europe. (CDMA vs. GSM) Consequently, your Verizon Droid should only work on wifi. No way to run up charges. But, to be safe, set it to Airplane Mode and then turn on wifi. Have a good trip. Let us know how the loaner phone worked out.
