Velociped Bike Tour Company

Has anyone used this company? We are planning on using them for a bike tour of the Moselle - either starting in Metz France or Luxembourg City. I have only been able to find a couple of reviews online. We previously used Radweg-Reisen for a tour around Lake Constance and had a very good experience with them. Just thought I'd see if anyone out there has any comments?

Yes, we booked with Velociped via Bike Tours (a US firm) for a self-guided bicycle trip along the Mosel River. Fine firm and we look forward to re-taking the trip as we enjoyed it so much. The Mosel River has a wonderful, easy to follow, pedestrian/bicycle path for most of the distance. Easy grade as you follow the river downstream. Lovely villages and the scenery is delightful.

Thanks Bruce!! Do you mind telling me where you started your tour? I'm guessing Metz, Trier or Luxembourg...

Our last tour around Lake Constance was 7 days, and my husband wants to do a bit longer this time. On Velociped's website they suggest if you start in Metz that you train to Thionville. We want to see Luxembourg so can either train there from Thionville or start in Luxembourg. Can't decide:) It's a little more hilly to start in Luxembourg and Metz sound really wonderful.

We started in Trier and when taking this trip again would opt for a longer version as we liked the region so much. I swear we saw bicyclists on the gentle Mosel River path from 8-80 years old, and for those with a gimpy ankle, knee, etc., electric assisted bicycles are available for rent. If booked through Adventure Cycling, as we did, you receive a 5% discount. Happy travels and please post a trip report.

Bruce,

I will post a trip report, but this bike tour will be part of a 6 week trip in 2018 so it will be a while!

We are in our 50's and we both agree that the best time we've ever had in Europe is doing the bike tour around Lake Constance. It's a whole different way to experience the culture. You're forced into the communities, and to interact with locals. The path around Lake Constance is 90% dedicated bike paths and I would highly recommend it also. We actually have biked between Cochem and Beilsten on a previous trip, and we're really excited about experiencing the rest of the Mosel!
