Need advice on a vehicle type that will accommodate our large group traveling in France next spring. We will have 3 adults, 2 toddlers, 2 car seats, 2 umbrella strollers and 3 suitcases. We have rented mini-vans in France in the past when it was just 3 adults but there is no way they will accommodate the kids/carseats AND 3 big people (not to mention our gear). Will a full size van have enough seating?
Thanks!
Julie,
In April of 2009, we rented a Mercedes Vito Long from Europcar at the Invalides Air France Terminal next to Pont Alexander III bridge(assuming you're starting from Paris). The rate was 500 euro per week and comfortably held six adults with luggage. The vehicle is supposed to hold up to 9 people, but then the French tend to be a bit slimmer than your average Yank. Super friendly staff that speak English and the vehicles are located in the underground parking next to Terminal building, complete with gas station at the entrance for easy return re-fueling.
You ought to be OK in a 7-passenger van such as the Renault Espace or the Citroen Grand Picasso. To go any larger, you'd have to get a 9-passenger van - a big vehicle.
Wouldn't a Renault Espace or Peugeot 807 or 5008 fit?
Both Renault and Peugeot have a full size van for person transportation as well, but I would prefer the mentioned models and they should be widely available in France.
