We are looking for vacation ideas, would love to rent an apartment near the sea for two weeks in a small town with great character and outdoor markets. Please let me know if you have any ideas or experiences renting in Europe.

That is a little vague. How about narrowing it down some by suggesting which ocean/sea you would like to be on?????

Mediterranean, but also open to other locations in Southern Europe. It has to be warm in the summer/early fall. I hope this helps :).

We stayed in Villefranche-sur-Mer which may fit your requirements. We stayed at the Hotal Flora, but would try the Welcome Hotel next time.

Do I ever have an answer for you! My Dad was from San Benedetto Del Tronto Italy. Very few Americans know this place. Mostly people from Europe vacation there. Everyone I know that has been there loves this place a lot! TripAdvisor has a message board of this area. I hope you will look into it! It's easy to get there by train from Venice or Florance. You can get there from Rome, but takes longer. There are many wonderful hotels, but I stay with family when I'm there. I'm right with the locals!
