using iphone in Spain

I am planning to take my iphone to Spain. My question is when calling a local number in spain do I dial 011 plus the country code like I would from the U.S. or do I use 00 plus the country code like I would if I had a european plan.

Thanks,

Rick

Rick: I think you posted a similar question back in February and must have read the things people, in particular Ken, said about the problems with iphones at that time, and I'm assuming you have found a way around the problems described by some of those replies to your February question? Here's the link to the February discussion: clickHere's another link, this one may lead to details on the $3000 iphone bill someone apparently received after they got back home:click2

Kent, I didn't read the links, but from personal experience, the IPhone will charge Roaming and then you get dinged for the minutes too.

Rick: Leave the iPhone at home, unless you know for certain you have a European Plan, and that you don't get hit with roaming. When you're in the country (ie: Spain) you will use the phone as a local because it will piggy back off the local network.

For instance, I have a UK cell. When I use it here in California, it piggy backs off Tmobil and I dial normally ie; +01144xxxxxxxxxx When I go back to the UK I drop the 011

You will need to check with At&T on that.It depends how they have it set up.
On my, which is a world tmobile phone, I dial + and 011 to call the country I am in, if I use my US SIM card.If I want to call a phobe number in the US I dial it dirrectly.
