Per another post of mine, I'm now signed up for Google Voice/Phone international. I've made a successful call across the Atlantic using the internet via Google Voice. In the other post, I'm told that one can do this without the internet. How does that work? I guess I call some #, enter my Google pwd, and then get to then dial the number??

Google Voice always uses the Internet (VOIP technology) to make calls. However, instead of using your computer, you can call your Google Voice number from your regular, landline phone, and make a call that way.
If I call my Google phone #, I hear myself saying, "Hello". I have no greeting other than that. There is no further prompt. I do not see an opportunity to make a call during this initial call.

When you hear your greeting, press the star (*) key on your phone. It will ask you for your PIN. Key in the PIN, then press 2 to make a call.
Yep, thanks. I just discovered that by a Google search.
Another question. Suppose I want to create a phone # people can call that describes, say, some forthcoming events. Is it possible to do this in such a way that they cannot leave a message?
We are now in Paris and using Google Voice to call home in San Francisco for free - a pleasant surprise. I set up my account a couple of weeks before our trip. I am using my laptop to make the calls to regular landlines and mobiles in the US and Canada.
I also called a landline in Spain for 0.02/minute.
As I don't have a landline or mobile here in Paris, I have not figured out how anyone can call me using their landline or mobile. If there is a way, that is.
